Within that language there’s real room for creative freedom, and it usually shows up as glass: open-plan living, floor-to-ceiling frameless panels, double-volume voids that pull the ocean, Table Mountain and Robben Island straight into the room.
We treat that glass-first brief as the starting point for the shading spec, not an afterthought bolted on once the build is signed off. Every opening gets measured and specified for its own orientation, height and reach — and, where a product changes the facade, documented to the standard an estate architectural committee expects to see.

Baronetcy’s architectural and landscaping guidelines are strict enough to keep every home reading as one confident, uber-modern language — open-plan, glass-first, some carrying a named architect’s signature. We treat that brief as the starting point for the shading spec, not a constraint to work around.

The view is why the glass runs hot
Cape Town sits at roughly 34°S, where the midday sun tracks the northern sky and swings low and hard from the west through late afternoon — calculated from the city’s latitude, not a quoted figure. Baronetcy’s big glass panels are built to face the ocean, Table Mountain and Robben Island, which on most stands means facing a fair share of that afternoon sun too.

Exterior products expect a sign-off
Anything that changes the facade — external venetians, a folding-arm awning — sits inside the estate’s architectural control. We specify clean, estate-appropriate finishes as standard and supply the documentation most approval processes ask for; final sign-off always sits with the estate, not with us.

Double-volume glass wants a motor, not a wand
Open-plan voids and stairwell glazing put windows well out of hand-reach. With 24-hour manned security already covering the perimeter, the safety question indoors is a simple one — cordless, motorised operation with nothing dangling within a child’s reach.

A clear, itemised quote per window — no surprises, and no pressure to decide on the spot. Something to hold in mind first: on this estate the spread is R1,000 to R7,500 a square metre installed, indoor fabric lowest and a motorised external system highest. Tiny openings carry a minimum. Precision arrives with the measure, never before it.

A shading service built around one visit and one written quote
Everything on this site is made to order for a specific opening in a specific house on or around Baronetcy Estate, and in the neighbouring pockets of Plattekloof, Welgemoed, Kanonberg and Century City. Roller blinds, concealed and recessed systems, external venetians, motorisation and the rest of the range are cut to the dimensions of your glass; nothing is picked off a rack in a stock width and trimmed to fit.
The working order is simple enough to describe in a sentence. An enquiry arrives through the form or the chat, one of our expert consultants will contact you shortly, and a free in-home measure is booked. The consultant measures each opening, then works through fabric, openness, finish and control with you room by room, against the orientation each one actually has. What follows is a written quote with a line for every window, so a room can be added or left out on the evidence rather than on a verbal estimate. When it is approved, the order is manufactured and installed, and the operation is shown to you before the crew leaves.

What’s the real fix for glass that overheats every afternoon?
In order of impact: exterior shading — external venetians or an awning — stops the heat before it reaches the glass; a sunscreen roller indoors cuts glare and UV while keeping the view; and automation makes sure it happens on schedule whether you’re home or not.
Do exterior products need estate approval before we order?
We’re not your architectural committee, so we can’t give final sign-off ourselves. We specify estate-appropriate finishes as standard and hand over the documentation most approval processes want to see — confirm the exact requirement with Baronetcy’s estate office at the measure.
Is motorisation worth it for one window, or just the ones I can’t reach?
On one reachable window it’s a comfort upgrade. On a stairwell void, a double-volume wall or a concealed ceiling-recess system, it’s the difference between blinds you actually use every day and blinds you don’t.
Are your blinds safe for small children?
Yes, on every corded or chained product. Cord and chain tensioners are standard on every install, and for nurseries or playrooms we recommend cordless or motorised control — nothing left dangling within reach.
